Anna Katriina Tilli (b. 1977, Kuusankoski, Finland) works in both furniture and interior design. Curiosity, questioning, stories and beauty are central to her design vision. She has a BA in spatial and furniture design from the University of Art and Design Helsinki, where she continued with MA studies in furniture design. She also studied at the Elisava design school in Barcelona on a scholarship in 2001. When she works on a project, Tilli challenges preconceptions of the product to reach its essential function. She is always ready to rethink matters. This results in an unrestricted and focused style. Her process involves stripping the form to its bare essence, then bringing her own aesthetic to the design. As she says: "l love beautiful things - they are something l aspire to and something that inspire me." More inspiration comes from the snowy and the sea - the mind has space to v/ander freely in both while snowboarding and boating. One of her collaborations with designer Mari Relander, the Anemone table, was voted as "Best in Furniture" in the Elle Decoration Design Awards UK 2003. Their designs have also been exhibited in eg. Sotheby's in London and the Miyake Design Studio Gallery in Tokyo. Tilli does interior and spatial design mainfy with Mikko Vesanen in their joint company MAK. Source: Anna Katrina Telli
