MEISSEN (MARCOLINI) DOCUMENTARY PART TEA AND COFFEE-SERVICE CIRCA 1780, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS, STAR, II, B AND 30 MARKS, PRESSNUMMERN 28 Painted by Johann Georg Loehnig and Johann Gottlieb Matthaäi with putti representing the stages of porcelain making including modelling, glazing and firing, within two-colour gilt oval and circular cartouches festooned with flowers, below gilt vitruvian scroll and hatching borders, the gilt angular handles and fruiting finials with foliate terminals, comprising: An oviform teapot and cover, signed Loehn (finial restored) A baluster coffee-pot and domed cover A baluster milk-jug on three acanthus-moulded feet (flaking to one panel) An ogee-sided sugar-bowl and cover, signed Loehn (finial restored) Four ogee-sided coffee-cups, one cup and saucer signed Matthäi Three saucers (one saucer with rim chip and associated crack) (some minor rubbing to gilding throughout) Provenance The Late Jopseph A.
