A MEISSEN (MARCOLINI) BLUE-GROUND CYLINDRICAL PORTRAIT CUP AND SAUCER CIRCA 1785, BLUE CROSSED SWORDS AND STAR MARKS, WITH BLUE 1 TO CUP AND 4 TO SAUCER The cup with a gilt-edged channelled angular handle, painted and stippled en grisaille with a half-length portrait of Leopold II wearing an embroidered cape and the Order of the Golden Fleece, within a gilt oval laurel leaf cartouche, the saucer with the initial L among clouds within a similar cartouche, gilt ovolo borders (cup with slight wear to upper rim and shallow minor glaze chip to underside) Lot Notes Leopold II (1747-1792), Holy Roman Emperor and Grand Duke of Tuscany, was the son of Emperor Francis I and his wife, Empress Maria Theresa.
