This solar-powered, passively-cooled residence is sited on a steep east-facing hillside in Marin County, California. A trio of structures, comprised of a house, a carport, and an elevator tower are the pragmatic result of efficient hillside construction. The floating steel structure with its wood-encased interior embodies the spirit of a modern Japanese tea house.
